When we launched The Stonewood Mystery back in 2021, it was a bold step forward: a fully playable digital murder investigation that let players dig through real case files, review evidence, and submit their own conclusions. It quickly became our flagship title and introduced thousands of players to the Cold Case Inc experience.
Five years later, we’ve returned to the Stonewood Police Department with fresh eyes.
This is not a simple visual refresh.
This is a complete modernisation of how the entire investigation feels.
The original version, while loved by many, had its limitations.
Every piece of evidence loaded on a brand new page. Navigation felt heavy. Switching between documents, witness statements, and media files broke the flow. The whole experience, although immersive in story, sometimes felt more like browsing a website than conducting a real investigation.
We’ve fixed that.

Internal messages and notifications now arrive in a dedicated inbox. Read updates from fellow officers, lab results, or anonymous tips without ever leaving the case. The inbox tracks what you’ve read and surfaces new information at the right moments.
Improved Official Reporting System
Submitting your final conclusion is now smoother and more satisfying. The declaration process feels official, the suspect selection is clear, and when you solve the case, you receive a personalised email summary with your result, including a case resolution video and story conclusion.
Persistent Progress & State Saving
Your notes, viewed files, read messages, and report status are now automatically saved. You can close the browser and return exactly where you left off. (There’s even a “Replay Case” option if you want to start fresh.)
Modern, Department-Specific Visual Identity
We’ve given the Stonewood Police Department its own distinct look:
